Bolaven Plateau is a stunningly beautiful location south of Laos, very commonly skipped by mainstream-following backpackers. The rival alternate to Bolaven Plateau, the Luang Prabang and Vang Vieng may be more popular, but Bolaven Plateau is the place for you to be if you are a guy who wants to tackle off-the-beaten-path locations.
One of the most popular things about the place is the Bolaven loop, a famous 4-day motorbike journey that many daring tourists loved to try. You can catch a bus to the place, but the important part is that you should get rest before hopping on the bikes. The journey is long and you should start it with all of your senses in the right places.
Take an even smaller backpack from your hotel for the journey, trust me, the discount in weight is a pretty huge deal by the end of the day. The cost for a motorbike is around $10-$20 for a day. Heads up: take photos of the vehicle before you leave in order to deal from rip offs. Buy an averagely detailed map, or hire a GPS device, and off you go!
